Privacy policy

This policy explains what information HEXCOR collects through hexcor.ca, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language. HEXCOR follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Who we are

HEXCOR is a product in development, run by Ryan Riedel in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is responsible for the personal information described here and acts as HEXCOR's privacy contact.

What we collect

• Your poll answer (yes, maybe or not for me) and any optional follow-up answers (finish, uses, price range, what you wear now, what would change your mind). These are anonymous: we do not ask for your name or email to answer. Each set of answers is linked by a random code made in your browser, so we can tell they came from the same visit.
• Your email address, only if you choose to leave it for updates.
• Your consent record, if you leave your email: the date and time, the wording you agreed to, and which form you used. The law asks us to keep proof of consent.
• Visit statistics: how many people visit, which pages they view, the website that sent them, and their general country and device type. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for this. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you to other websites.
• Anything you send us if you email us.

We do not collect any health information through this website, and we do not use cookies or advertising trackers. Your browser remembers that you answered the poll, and the random code, in its own storage on your device, so the site does not ask you twice. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings. Like every website, our hosting provider automatically keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running.

Why we collect it

• To understand how much interest there is in HEXCOR and what people want from it.
• To count visits, so we know how many people the site reaches.
• If you leave your email, to send you HEXCOR product news, build updates and launch announcements, which is what you asked for.
• To answer you if you contact us.

We only use your information for these purposes. If we ever want to use it for something new, we will ask you first.

Your consent

We only email you if you leave your email and tick the consent box. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to hello@hexcor.ca. We will remove you within 10 business days, and usually much sooner. Every email we send will identify HEXCOR, include our contact details and include an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this site:

• Website hosting and form storage: Netlify, Inc. (United States), which hosts this site and stores poll answers and email signups.
• Visit statistics: Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), which counts visits without cookies.
• Email: Porkbun LLC (United States) forwards mail sent to hello@hexcor.ca. When we start sending updates, we will use an email delivery service and name it here before the first email goes out.

These providers may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, and authorities there may be able to access it. We choose providers that protect personal information and use it only to provide their service to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep anonymous poll answers and visit statistics for as long as they are useful for planning HEXCOR. We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or until the HEXCOR email list is closed, whichever comes first. After you unsubscribe we keep only a record that you opted out, so that we never email you again, and your consent record for as long as the law requires. If HEXCOR is discontinued, we will delete the email list.

How we protect it

Access to poll answers and the email list is limited to HEXCOR and protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@hexcor.ca and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The email list is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete their information.

The HEXCOR product

This policy covers the website, poll and email list only. HEXCOR is not for sale. The HEXCOR app is being designed so that heart and activity data stays on your own devices and is not collected by HEXCOR. Before any product or app is released, we will publish a separate privacy policy that explains exactly how it works.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will email everyone on the email list before it takes effect.
